چکیده

In this paper, we investigate the evolutionary prisoner’s dilemma game in a structured population with two communities. The number of interconnections represents the interaction strength between the two communities. We address the question of how the interaction between two communities influences cooperation by studying five situations with different game dynamics and different community structures. We find that the interaction between communities suppresses cooperation when the levels of cooperation in isolated communities are high, whereas the interaction enhances cooperation when the levels of cooperation in isolated communities are low. For intermediate levels of cooperation in isolated communities, the interaction between communities induces a resonance-type behavior of cooperation.

Emergence of Super Cooperation of Prisoner’s Dilemma Games on Scale-Free Networks

Recently, the authors proposed a quantum prisoner's dilemma game based on the spatial game of Nowak and May, and showed that the game can be played classically. By using this idea, we proposed three generalized prisoner's dilemma (GPD, for short) games based on the weak Prisoner's dilemma game, the full prisoner's dilemma game and the normalized Prisoner's dilemma game, written by GPDW, GPDF an...

Simulation of an Optional Strategy in the Prisoner's Dilemma in Spatial and Non-spatial Environments

This paper presents research comparing the effects of different environments on the outcome of an extended Prisoner’s Dilemma, in which agents have the option to abstain from playing the game. We consider three different pure strategies: cooperation, defection and abstinence. We adopt an evolutionary game theoretic approach and consider two different environments: the first which imposes no spa...

A voter model of the spatial prisoner's dilemma

The prisoner’s dilemma (PD) involves contests between two players and may naturally be played on a spatial grid using voter model rules. In the model of spatial PD discussed here, the sites of a two-dimensional lattice are occupied by strategies. At each time step, a site is chosen to play a PD game with one of its neighbors. The strategy of the chosen site then invades its neighbor with a prob...

Modeling Cooperation between Nodes in Wireless Networks by APD Game

Cooperation is the foundation of many protocols in wireless networks. Without cooperation, the performance of a network significantly decreases. Hence, all nodes in traditional networks are required to cooperate with each other. In this paper, instead of traditional networks, a network of rational and autonomous nodes is considered, which means that each node itself can decide whe...

Invasion and expansion of cooperators in lattice populations: prisoner's dilemma vs. snowdrift games.

The evolution of cooperation is an enduring conundrum in biology and the social sciences. Two social dilemmas, the prisoner's dilemma and the snowdrift game have emerged as the most promising mathematical metaphors to study cooperation. Spatial structure with limited local interactions has long been identified as a potent promoter of cooperation in the prisoner's dilemma but in the spatial snow...
